Bickerman Dispute Resolution, PLLC, has substantial experience mediating and resolving a broad spectrum of conflicts. We offer versatile, effective services aimed at helping parties to a conflict forge a resolution without the expense and uncertainty of litigation. Although based in Washington, D.C., our practice is national. Our practice areas include:

  • Commercial disputes: We regularly work with Fortune 100 companies involved in significant disputes. Commercial disputes can present as simple, straightforward disputes. Frequently, emotion can cloud the negotiation process. We excel at peeling back the layers of the onion of the dispute to get at the underlying issues. Often relationships between the parties are worth preserving. We can help parties reach resolutions that leave those relationships intact. Importantly, we help ensure that the agreements that are reached are achievable, durable and don't spawn future disputes.
  • Insurance: John Bickerman has mediated coverage of major asbestos, environmental and class action disputes. He has also successfully resolved directors' and officers' liability and first-party coverage disputes.
  • Construction defects: A substantial portion of our alternative dispute resolution (ADR) practice includes helping resolve construction defect disputes.
  • Environmental, natural resources, land use and public policy: John Bickerman is fully versed in resolving private party allocation issues under CERCLA (Superfund) and has worked with nearly every regional office of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • Water rights: Mr. Bickerman has considerable experience resolving complex water rights issues all over the United States.
  • Tribal disputes: We have significant experience mediating disputes between tribes and governmental entities, as well as intertribal disputes. Our work in this field encompasses a number of different topics, including water rights, fishing and land use disputes.
